Nestled in the heart of Fort Worth at 2108 E Rosedale St, Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez serves up an irresistible array of authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex flavors that keep locals and visitors coming back for more. This vibrant taco restaurant uniquely excels in birria—a richly seasoned, slow-cooked meat that shines in multiple dishes on their menu. From the moment you step inside, you are welcomed by colorful murals and a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the robust, comforting flavors on your plate.
The star of the show is undoubtedly their Tacos De Birria, tender meat nestled in homemade corn tortillas, bursting with smoky, savory goodness. Pair them with a steaming cup of rich consumé—a flavorful broth perfect for dipping that elevates the experience into a soul-satisfying ritual. The Quesobirria Tacos, stuffed with melted cheese and braised meat, deliver a harmonious combination of gooey indulgence and deep, complex flavors that leave a lasting impression.
If you’re craving variety, the Sampler Plate is a must-try, expertly curated to showcase the best of the kitchen: an 8" Birria pizza that’s a trendy, crowd-pleasing twist; flautas rolled with birria and topped with fresh cheese and cilantro; and quesotacos that melt in your mouth—all accompanied by a small consomé that ties every bite together perfectly. Customers repeatedly rave about the quality and depth of flavor packed into each dish, praising the generous portions and thoughtful service.
The refreshing horchata is widely celebrated here—thick, creamy, and generously portioned, it’s the perfect sweet counterpoint to the savory spice of their dishes. For adults looking to unwind, the Strawberry Margarita and the boldly spiced Michelada Olmos add a festive Tex-Mex flair to the dining experience.
Reviewers consistently mention the warmth of the staff and the speed of service, creating a comfortable, friendly environment that's perfect for a casual Sunday lunch or a flavorful midweek escape—though note the spot is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Outdoor seating next to the river, when available, enhances the ambiance, blending scenic calm with the vibrant energy of authentic Mexican cuisine.
While some patrons mention slightly higher prices, almost everyone agrees the quality, freshness, and boldness of flavors more than justify the spend, especially given the generous take-home portions. One visitor highlighted the joy of sharing plates topped with three distinct salsas, each adding its own fiery or tangy character, turning each bite into a discovery.
Whether you're a birria enthusiast following the latest food trends or a newcomer to Tex-Mex delights, Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez promises a deeply satisfying culinary journey. The perfect blend of tradition, innovation, and heartfelt service makes this Fort Worth gem not simply a meal, but an experience you won’t soon forget.
We came on a Sunday around 1 PM. Parking is free, but the lot was very full. We were told the wait would be 30 minutes. We were sat in less than 20 minutes. I had flautas and birra tacos with consume. My daughter had simple meat and cheese tacos. We also had the homemade corn tortillas. Everything was delicious. Service was speedy, friendly, and offered great suggestions. I look forward to returning.
It's off the highway a bit but we'll worth the stop. We decided to try the sampler plate to get a small sample of a few things. We also got the sliders, the mix of sweet rolls and the tangy meat hit the spot. All the food was great. I highly recommend dropping by if you get the chance.
Really cute place, definitely try to sit outside if spaces are available as the ambiance of the river adds so much! We were greeted warmly as we entered and thoroughly enjoyed the service we received. My favorite star of the show was probably the horchata, which was also really large, you could lowkey split it if you wanted to! I was not the biggest fan of the queso-tacos, I felt like they needed a little more cheese. They were good, but I have had better.
Great! Everything had a ton of flavor. Presented for all to share. 3 different hot sauce. Everything a’la carte. No plates. Good thing the food was delicious the price was crazy. We wanted to try a variety so we ordered the sampler, tacos, and rice/beans. Along with alcohol. $85 and we were only 2. Got the rest to take home and fed 2 more ppl. No complaints at all just a little sticker shock.
First time coming to this establishment and was highly satisfied food was delicious, friendly staff and I loved all the murials of great talent decorating the inside of the restaurant. It was clean and very nice. I had the birria pizza that has been all the rage on Tiktok and I'm so glad I did . It was delicious. A must know, this restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Best birria around! It is all they do and they do it really well. We drive from downtown Dallas for it. The quesabirria tacos are the best item. I pass on the beans and rice and order 3 quesabirria tacos and an horchata. I’ve had the regular and cheese shell version and the regular shell is better and easier to eat. I’ve had just the birria tacos, but I love cheese, so I like the quesabirria much more. The birria pizza is good. It has a ton of meat and cheese, but it is definitely to be shared by a few people. The birria changas are also really good. If you like Micheladas, theirs are good.
